Style Guide
A style guide outlines the standards and guidelines for maintaining consistency in visual design. It includes branding and usage rules for logos, colors, fonts, images, layout, and interactive components. Providing detailed instructions will serve all course designers, instructors, and content creators, facilitating uniformity and coherence in the presentation of educational content.
Overview
The style guide is created to establish a professional identity across all course materials, enhancing the learner's experience and reinforcing the institution's brand. It streamlines the design process, reduces inconsistencies, and ensures all content is accessible and engaging. By adhering to the style guide, course designers can create visually appealing materials aligned with the institution's values and pedagogical goals, ultimately contributing to a more effective and cohesive learning environment.
Purpose
I began by exploring the institution's brand identity and color scheme, drawing inspiration from an image I found of their college football game day. I used the institution's official sans-serif typefaces, Monserrat and Calibri, and specified their usage to make sure everything looked consistent and easy to read. I also included guidelines for incorporating illustrated images, relevant photos, signaling cues, and button styles. I then reviewed and improved the guide based on feedback from the brand ambassador and stakeholders, making sure it's clear, comprehensive, and practical for everyday use. Once it's finalized, the style guide will be distributed to maintain consistency across all course design projects.
